Most Americans Know Their Mom's Favorite Way to Treat Herself, New Study Finds

Mother's Day is right around the corner, which means you're likely busy finding Mom the perfect present, finalizing dinner reservation details, or deciding which flowers you're going to gift her. Over the years, you've probably learned a lot about what Mom enjoys on her special day, and you're not alone in that sentiment. According to a new survey conducted by WorldRemit, 81 percent of respondents reported knowing Mom's favorite way to treat herself, 67 percent say they know her favorite flower, and more than 80 percent know what her go-to hobby is.

To obtain their data, the company spoke to 1,000 people across the United States to determine how well people really know the mother figures in their lives. The research reveals that while 80 percent of Americans speak to their mom at least monthly and can confidently list her favorite flower, movie, hobby, and musician, plenty of respondents haven't acted on these bits of knowledge in quite some time.

According to the results of the survey, although a majority of people know Mom's favorite flower, 37 percent say they haven't bought them for her in the past year. Similarly, 57 percent know her favorite movie, but 33 percent report that they've never watched a movie with their mom or haven't done so in the past year. What's more, 75 percent a familiar with their mom's favorite musician, even though one in three have never listened to them with her or haven't done so in the past year.

Some respondents have taken time outside of Mother's Day to pamper Mom. In fact, nearly half (49 percent) of respondents have taken her to enjoy her favorite self care ritual in the past month, and 65 percent have done so in the last six months. Additionally, 81 percent of Americans know what Mom's favorite hobby is and more than half have participated alongside her in the last six months. "Celebrating Mother's Day is an easy way to show appreciation to the hard work, dedication and care moms provide," says Jorge Godinez Reyes, Head of the Americas.
