Air fryers are undoubtedly one of the most popular small appliances for modern cooking right now. If you're one of the many home cooks who have hopped on the trend in recent years, make sure you are aware of an ongoing recall. Two million Cosori air fryers are being recalled due to fire risks. There have been 205 reports of the brand's air fryers "catching fire, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking," according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. This includes 10 "minor, superficial burn injuries" and 23 property damage reports.

The products were manufactured between June 2018 through December 2022, and sold at retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Target. The agency noted that consumers "should immediately stop" using the damaged air fryers, which range from 3.7 to 5.8 quarts in size. The products with the following model numbers (which you can find on the bottom of the air fryers) are included in the recall:

  • CP158-AF
  • CP158-AF-R19
  • CP158-AF-RXW
  • CP158-AF-RXR
  • CAF-P581-BUSR

The Cosori team blames the fire hazards on a wiring issue. "After a thorough investigation, we determined that in extremely rare circumstances, the closed-end crimp connectors within the recalled air fryers—which are responsible for establishing electrical connections between certain wires—can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards," the company said in a statement on its recall page.

You can contact Cosori to request a free replacement on the company's recall page. Consumers can also reach the Cosori team with any questions through a toll-free recall support hotline at 888-216-5974, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
