End a savory winter meal on a refreshing note by combining citrus with a hint of spice. Tangerines or mandarin oranges can be used instead of clementines.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 8 clementines, peeled and thinly sliced crosswise

Directions

  1. Bring water, sugar, and cinnamon to a simmer in a small saucepan. Cook until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute.

  2. Arrange clementines in a large bowl. Pour warm syrup over top, and let stand for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Divide clementines and syrup among 4 bowls.
