If this is your first kitchen backsplash project, check our guide on Choosing a Kitchen Backsplash: 10 Things You Need to Know.

Instructions

  1. Determine how many tiles you need for your backsplash. Wash each tile surface with dishwashing liquid; dry with a towel. Wipe each with a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol; let dry.

  2. Brush paint on tiles in desired patterns or lines; let dry 1 hour.

  3. Arrange tiles on a baking sheet and place in a cool oven; set temperature to 350° and bake 30 minutes. Turn heat off and let tiles cool completely in oven. Let rest at least 72 hours.

  4. Follow manufacturer's directions for mat. Adhere tiles tightly, without grout (which can damage painted surface of tiles). Tiles can be cleaned with gentle cleaner; never scratch or rub them.
