The process is the same no matter what size pillow you make: Start by measuring the pillow insert, and then knit a piece that is one inch longer and one inch wider, and cut a piece of felted wool the same size.
What You'll Need
Materials
- Knitting needles
- Similarly weighted worsted wool in a variety of colors
- Felted wool fabric
- Sewing supplies
- Pillow insert
Instructions
-
Cast on enough stitches to equal the width measurement. Knit stockinette stitch, switching yarn when you want to add a stripe. Switch back, and continue knitting stockinette until piece equals the length measurement.
-
Cast off. Weave in ends. (Block if needed.)
-
Leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance, sew knit piece to fabric with sewing thread, leaving a hemmed opening for pillow insert. Stuff insert inside, and slip-stitch closed. (To avoid shrinkage, dry cleaning is recommended.)
