860,000 Pressure Cookers Sold Nationwide Have Been Recalled Due to Burn Risk

Check your pressure cooker—the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced a recall on about 860,000 pressure cookers due to potential burn risk. According to the report, the recalled pressure cooker's lids can unlock and be removed during use, causing the hot contents to unexpectedly splash out, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

The multi-brand recall involves Bella, Bella Pro Series, Crux, and Cooks electric pressure cookers, as well as Bella stovetop pressure cookers. The affected electric pressure cookers include 6, 8, and 10-quart capacities, while the impacted stovetop pressure cookers include 5, 8, and 12-quart capacities.

These pressure cookers were sold nationwide at JCPenney, Kohl's, Lowe's, Macy’s, and Target, as well as online at Amazon and other websites. The recalled products were sold from September 2015 through September 2020.

So far, there have been 63 reported incidents of injury, including 61 burn injuries, some of which involved second and third degree burns to the face, torso, arms, and hands.
