This mixture of apples, nuts, and wine is eaten at the Passover seder. Kosher wine is generally sweeter than other red wines and is an essential part of this dinner recipe.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup walnuts

  • 2 Granny Smith apples

  • ¼ cup kosher red wine

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the walnuts on a rimmed baking sheet; toast until lightly browned and fragrant, about 10 minutes. Set aside. When cool, chop coarsely.

  2. Peel, core, and finely chop the apples. Add the wine, sugar, and chopped walnuts, and stir to combine. Serve.
