No need to make a dreidel out of clay. In addition to whipping up a few Hanukkah dinner recipes the whole family will love and lighting the menorah, enjoy creating this wooden craft that's perfect for your Hanukkah celebration. This simply requires two types of materials: wooden dreidels and acrylic paint. Once you decorate them with a fun design, give them a twirl.

What You'll Need

Materials

  • Wooden Dreidels (similar to shown) (The Dreidel Company Unfinished Wooden Dreidels, 3")
  • Small Wooden Dreidels (Woodpeckers Unfinished Wooden Dreidels, 2½")
  • Yellow Acrylic Paint (similar to shown) (Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Craft Paint in Lemon Squeeze)
  • Blue Acrylic Paint (similar to shown)
  • Peach Acrylic Paint (similar to shown) (FolkArt Acrylic Paint in Summer Peach)

Instructions

  1. Paint square wooden tops in a brighter take on traditional blue-and-gold using a flat-edge brush and craft paint.

  2. For flawless lines, tape off half of each side either vertically or horizontally before painting, or alternate for a little variety.

  3. Let dry; write the Hebrew letters nun, gimel, he, and shin—one on each side—with a white paint pen; and give them a whirl.
